Jean Lexima and MaTante
We celebrated MaTante's 73rd birthday yesterday.  I was in the states last week for fundraising and a board meeting and was hoping to get back for MaTante's birthday.  Traffic jams and pouring rain prevented me from getting here on time but the celebration was a success nonetheless.  We wish MaTante continued good health, patience and wisdom as she continues to be a terrific example for all the staff and children here.

Easter Vigil 2012

The blessing of the fire at the beginning of the Easter liturgy.  The fire is then transferred to the Paschal candle which is carried into the church.

After the liturgy of the word, we baptized 20 people.  Above is a photo of MacDonald who was the oldest to be baptized.

Good Friday 2012

MarcKenson Miliste and Kenson Jacob assisted us during the Good Friday celebration.  The liturgy included the Stations of the Cross with photos of the stations projected on a large sheet, the Passion, the Veneration of the Cross (above) and a Communion Service.  The liturgy was masterfully presided over by Deacon Peter.

Easter Proclamation

Exsultet
Rejoice, heavenly powers! Sing, choirs of angels!
Exult, all creation around God's throne!
Jesus Christ, our King, is risen!
Sound the trumpet of salvation!

Rejoice, O earth, in shining splendor,
radiant in the brightness of your King!
Christ has conquered! Glory fills you!
Darkness vanishes forever!

Above are the first two verses of the Easter proclamation which was beautifully sung by Jean Levelt Prosper at the Easter Vigil last evening.  Yes, it was sung in Creole so the children could understand.  My favorite translation is the French one but most of the children have a hard time understanding French so Creole it was.  Look up the Exsultet in your missal or on the net.  It is an extraordinarily eloquent and joyful prayer that captures the essence of Easter.  May God bless you all on this great feast of the resurrection.

Delays

Sorry about the delays in getting photos out to you.  Gave my digital camera to our archives office so that they could update the children's photos.  That means I depend on others' photos and their willingness to share them with me for this blog.
Stay tuned for more.
