Dear Friends,
Elson had surgery on Wednesday to replace the antibiotic rod in his arm and do another "clean-out". The operation revealed that things looked clean inside, no more pus, and the cultures are negative. I was able to bring him home last night, and he was very happy to be there. He is having more pain than last time, and is a bit discouraged as it turns out we need another 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, then he needs to have a more extensive procedure with bone grafting from his hip. He's concerned about that- already unhappy with the scar on his arm (which is huge). After that, he needs to be here another 2 months or so to make certain that the bone graft "takes". He's very anemic now and feels dizzy and rotten.
The email goes on with family news and ends with a big THANK YOU to all who support us in attempting to make a difference in the lives of these poor children. May the Lord bless you, Cynthia and your family, for being so willing to serve His poor.

Cynthia,
ReplyDeleteYou have really gone "above and beyond". Many of us appreciate the sacrifices you and your family have made in Elson's life. I'm sure you "saved" his life.
Dear Father & Nick,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know I visit this Blog probably about 3 times a day. This is my first comment.
A friend of Kathy's and a sponsor to your cause.
Understanding you probably do have other activities to administer, but felt I needed to let you know how this blog made me feel connected when I'm unable to physically be there.
I also believe it would be benificial for any other's who are supporting you to see what WONDERFUL progress you are making, and to see the faces of those children they're helping. Is there a way to include a counter for the number of visits to include on your blog?

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Supporting you in whatever your decision.
Best Wishes,

Oh no! Don't stop the blog. It is very important that we see what is going on at Pwoje Espwa. Just because there aren't comments does,'t mean that we aren't looking. Some of us check it every day and it does keep us connected to the work being done.If I have a vote it is to keep the blog going.
ReplyDeleteElson remains on the Santiago - Lake Forest daily prayer list as does the Orpahage and Edmond.
ReplyDeleteWe send our love,
Larry and Rita Bishop
I too check your blog almost every day. I was at the orphanage with a group earlier this year....& the blog helps me remember the hope & not to just focus on the sad & the tragic.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog very much. Check it every day. Please don't stop!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia,
ReplyDeleteTHanks for all you are doing for Elson
A busy person is always the one to ask for additional duties
God will reward you for all you do.
