The woman on the right is the mother of these two eleven month old girls, twins. The father died in the earthquake and there's no one to help her raise her children. She has three others in Port-au-Prince. She begged us to take the twins so she can get a job to support the other three children. We tried Terre de Hommes and the local Welfare Office but no one could help. The mother left yesterday for PaP and said she will return for the girls when she has some stability in her life. Wonder when that will be?
The Welfare Office called this evening and asked us to take in an 18 month old boy who was found in the street and brought to the police. Nathalie is gone to see what we can do. Seems they tried to find him a place to stay but "there's no room in the inn". Will update you tomorrow.
I wish I were there to help care for the babies. God bless you Fr Marc and everyone helping in Haiti on a daily basis.
