Agriculture

 chou/cabbage

zonyon/onions
pwa nwa/black beans
As soon as the rainy season ended (about four weeks ago) Toussaint, our agronomist, and his crew planted cabbage, onions and black beans.  Looks like about 20 acres worth.  Wished I liked cabbage a bit more than I do.

  1. In view of the going rate for peanut butter and honey, maybe you need to plant peanuts and bee culture.

  2. Tried peanuts here but they wouldn't take. They do well in other parts of Haiti just not here. Will be trying asparagus and have a small bee culture project just kicking off.

  3. The farm looks great. How many more acres of farm land are available for crops? How did the broom grass make out?

  4. Do you have trouble with neighbors, seeing all that produce, coming in and "helping themselves?"

  5. Wow, this looks great. Is there any opportunity for Espwa to acquire/lease more land to manage and farm? Maybe that is beyond the scope of your mission but it looks like you do a wonderful job and it could provide jobs and much needed food in the region.
