Alphonse is 14 and lives in the neighboring village of Mde Combe. He eats with us, comes to school here and shares in our bounty (clothing, shoes, personal hygiene stuff). Alphonse is quiet, likes to observe and is always ready to lend a hand.
Stay informed, stay involved: here's one way of keeping up with what's happening in southern Haiti. Please consider supporting our mission to save orphans and vulnerable children from desperate poverty; contributions can be sent to our partners at Free the Kids - www.freethekids.org. Thank you for your help.

Boys in Red
What do you mean my hair is messy? I brushed it just a few minutes ago. This is Elcide, a terrific soccer player and very good older brother to the little guys.
Alphonse eats with us, goes to school with us, benefits from our medical clinic and receives clothing and shoes when we have them. He sleeps at home, a shack, on rags spread out on the dirt floor. We could take him in but who would help out his mother with chores?
