 This is a sad Pouchon.  While he was walking in the yard a rock fell on his head and cracked it open a bit.  The kids throw rocks to knock down mangoes but they occasionally come down on other kids' heads.  They all know not to do it but the mangoes are way too beckoning.

Those of you who have visited the Quad in the last year know Sam.  Here he is faking he knows how to use a computer.  Sam works in the Quad part-time, attends secondary school and makes a pretty mean pizza.

Pouchon

This is Pouchon who has been with us three years.  He tends to be a little melancholic except when playing marbles or soccer.  When he smiles, his face really lights up.  He's grown a lot since he first came.  Pouchon is one of a group of children who have extra digits. We have about 25 kids who have twelve fingers.  Pouchon's special in that the extra digit of his right hand is fully developed though there's no joint so it's not very useful.  Removing this extra finger would require serious surgery and he hasn't complained about it so we'll wait for the opportune time.

Pouchon is seen holding a package of protein-enriched cookies that we were fortunate to receive. I'm not sure which local organization made this possible but we are in their debt.

Pouchon

Yes, this is Pouchon. He is hardly recognizable when he smiles. Pouchon and his older brother came to us a little over two years ago. He was reserved, to say the least, would answer questions with the tiniest of voices and express his emotions with his eyes. It is only recently that he has started to smile. This tells me that he feels safer and is more engaged with what is happening around here... a little miracle.
