Saplings from our nursery

We sell saplings from our nursery to mostly missionaries and non-profits who are interested in reforestation.  It's one way our farm raises money to help us feed the children with fresh fruit and vegetables.  Here's the list and prices.

Our second nursery

We are taking advantage of the frequent rains and sunny days and have expanded our veggie/salad garden. In this photo are onions, tomatoes, leeks, cabbage and eggplant. If this succeeds (as we hope) we should be able to make this a cash crop as the local hotels and restaurants are always looking for salad fixins.

New nursery

Guy-Robert cleaning out the seedlings.
Samuel working and weeding
We've started a new nursery near Lake Monik as the old one is all filled up with saplings. It is looking good and the guys have every right to be proud. Now if we could just keep the neighbors' goats and cows out of it...

Nursery

The children are out of school and the challenge for us is to find things to keep them busy. Agro. Brice needed to get about 300 saplings loaded onto the military truck so we formed a "bucket brigade" and the job was done in short order. The kids were happy to help.

A couple of shots of the thriving tree nursery.

Participation

These are photos of the secondary students who attend our school at Castel-Pere. We do not charge tuition but insist that the students help us either with the younger students or in agriculture. These shots were taken of them working in the nursery where we are preparing several thousand saplings to offset the deforestation here. AVSI, an Italian organization, is funding this project.
