Abdias Pierre
I was on my way home and ran into Abdias who was waiting for me. His story: From Port-au-Prince, mother died in December 2007, no family so was taken in by a neighbor who could not (would not) send him to school. One day while in the market a woman told him about this place called ESPWA down in Les Cayes that helps kids. Abdias told his "foster parent" who did not like the idea. Abdias came anyway. He talked a bus driver into bringing him to Cayes for free and asked around for ESPWA. He was directed to our front gate. The department of social services says they will verify his story. Abdias is excited to be here and is anxious to get back to school. He's fourteen.
