MaTante hands Bonhomme a small loaf of bread that was baked in the solar oven earlier. He missed the distribution but was lucky as there was some left over.
Stay informed, stay involved: here's one way of keeping up with what's happening in southern Haiti. Folks
Jocelyn (Blan) is a graduate now working for us as a mason. Here he's working on the Guest House garage. What do think of his hair?
Bonhomme has healed up pretty well from the eye bashing. He's got some discoloration but that's it.

Later
Less than twelve hours later, Bonhomme's eye looks much better. He claims it doesn't hurt much but Bonhomme has always been a "stiff upper lip" child. He is definitely not a whiner.

OUCH !!
This is what happens when a hard object runs into soft flesh. Bonhomme was studying when another child came running by with a stick in his hands. The stick somehow came into contact with Bonhomme's eye. Lucky for him that there was no eye damage. He's seen here with a bottle of frozen water which he rubs on his eye whenever he has a chance. We keep the bottle in the Quad freezer.

Time's Up
Bossico, Woodlin, Patrick, Michael and Bonhomme
We are hosting a competition for the best original Christmas song and we've got eleven groups attempting to win the grand prize. Above is the group Time's Up who came by and sang for me this afternoon. Excellent lyrics and a catchy melody! Can't wait to hear the others.

Two good men
Both of these boys are named Bonhomme which means "good man". They aren't related but they both have brothers here. The bottom Bonhomme was reunited with two brothers here after being a restavek (a child servant) for five years.

Bonhomme's brother
In the last post you saw a photo of Bonhomme with a cast. In talking with him and his brother, Bossco, we discovered that they have another brother living in Les Cayes who is a restavek, someone who lives with a family and provides services in exchange for food, shelter and education. When I asked how he was doing both brothers started to cry. We have initiated the process to get him here with his two brothers. How marvelous are the ways of the Lord?

Update on Bonhomme
Bonhomme was able to see a doctor, get an x-ray and get his wrist plastered this morning. He's still in pain but it is much more manageable. And, oh yes, he's happy to be home.
