Rain still

Field that we plowed under last week and were going to plant this week.  Glad we didn't.

Incessant rain

Not a clear shot but you get the idea of the situation in town this morning.

Rain

On Friday Margaret asked about the rainy season here in Haiti.  We told her it is usually at this time of year but so far we had been lucky.  Well, Saturday and Sunday were the wettest days so far this season.  It felt like  hurricane weather yesterday with high winds and rain coming down in buckets.
That's a photo of the small dirt road in front of my dwelling-- under water-- making traveling a real challenge.

Wet days

It's been raining since last night and the ground is soaked.  Small lakes are forming all over the campus.  Been told that this weather will continue through the weekend.  Ugh!
Our kitchen got a late start due to the rain.  Almost all the cooks eventually arrived and breakfast was prepared and served.  Can't wait for the new kitchen and dining room.  Our cooks have been working in terrible conditions for way too long.

Oh, oh

Afternoon showers are becoming a daily occurrence.  When folks see this kind of sky they start rushing things a bit so as not to be caught in a downpour.

Rain

Am heading out for Morning Prayer and Mass and it is raining. No big deal unless you happen to live in Tent City. The field will turn to mud and life will become even more difficult. Pray that's it just a shower!

M-I-S-E-R-A-B-L-E

It has been raining for over 24 hours now and the result is mud and water everywhere. It is cold and clammy and the kids are miserable. All outside activities are canceled and there's not much to keep them busy indoors. We got more rain last night than at any point during the hurricane season. El nino? Who cares as long as it ends soon.

Rainy season

It's the rainy season so frequent and sudden rain showers are the norm. There was one this morning which caused the kids to run for shelter. These three found it under the nearest table. The shower didn't last so they didn't have to stay there too long.

A little rain

This was the road to Castel-Pere this morning.
That's the Clinic at center and the Guest house on the left in front of a new lake created in the last 24 hours.

Hope these eggplants like water!

Rain, rain

It rained cats and dogs last night and what a mess was found this morning at Hope Village.

Foul weather gear

Some of us are better prepared for the rainy season than others. This is Poleson and I thought you'd appreciate his adaptability.
