Mama with six ducklings

Ran into Mama duck and her brood while out for a stroll this afternoon.  The kiddies were all following her in line but Mama stopped as I was right in their way and the little ones gathered.  These belong to MacKenson Michel who raises them for cash.  I've never seen or heard of anyone eating duck here.  Cat, yes.  Duck, no!

  1. Ouch!!! As a person owned by 2 cats that hurts. I don't like the idea of killing any animal or bird for food, but we need to look through the food chain to face reality. I love veggies, but we can't survive on veggies alone, we are genetically engineered to require protein, mostly from meat.
I can certainly appreciate the difference between Haiti & the US where we can afford to provide food & shelter for canines & felines & in Haiti they are food.

  2. Follow up: My hope is that in Haiti we can develop a humane society that can feed the people without causing undue pain & hardship for any animals. If they are to be slautered, please let them have a good life prior to being sacrificed for the benifit of human beings. Animals do have feelings!!!!!
