Jackson Jean-Baptiste
A woman came to LaMadonne this morning with her son in tow. They sat and waited for a while and then the mother said that she was going out to buy some fried dough. She never returned. Jackson (nickname: Sonsonn) is ten years old and was in the second grade at a small school in Sovo. One of our housemothers comes from that area so we will track the mother down and get more info but if she is willing to abandon him here with us he is probably gonna be our newest Espwa child. With all that is going on here, the mother may have very good reasons to leave Sonsonn with us. This is partly our fault as we have a very good reputation.

Heartbreaking...
ReplyDeleteReaching out to her is so important for many reasons, but most importantly (well, at least I think) is so that she knows that she can come back and visit, so that she knows that it's not all or nothing.
ReplyDeleteVery sad.
I wonder if Jackson knew it was coming?
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to even imagine such a situation. He may not fully comprehend it yet - Denial is the first stage afterall. He sure is cute!
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful! My heart breaks for him. ... Take good care of him while you have him. Hopefully, her situation improves and she comes back for him someday.
