Meet Jeff Paul. Jeff's father is deceased and his mother abandoned him. Jeff was a 'restavek', a child servant who was mistreated by his patron.
Poverty is a powerful force-- life expectancy is short due to lack of adequate medical care; families must split up as parents cannot care for their young children; a lack of education and opportunity perpetuates a cycle of misery. How can we do a better job getting the message of need across to those who live in a culture of excess?
