Arts and Crafts

Can you believe this? It is made of baked clay. The artisan who made it will be working with our guys.

  1. Wow, that's amazing! Here's a business idea for you. How about making and selling Nativity sets made of clay. If you could get them to the States, I think they would sell well. Or you could just sell them to visitors.

  2. I agree. Some of the artwork is really good. I don't know how it would work. Getting the artwork to the states. Maybe one of the supporters has an art store or specialty shop. Or maybe someone has an avenue for online selling. Something to think about.

  3. My sister-in-law asked me to check around for a Nativity Set as well. Was there late January, but no luck at the time. The figure shown is just stunning. Would love a Nativity for myself as well.

  4. This is beautiful. I checked at a local shop called One World Goods. They sell art from Haiti and other poor areas all over the world and are a not for profit. It must come via Comite Artisanal Haitien (CAH) a nonprofit organization based in Port-au-Prince or Drexco Company , another Port-au_Prince marketing organization that represents more than 300 Haitian craftspeople. I do not know if you have a way to look into this as an avenue for the artisan's at Espwa.

  5. Nativity sets made by the kids would be a good seller I think. I'll take one.

  7. Thank you for your encouraging words. We are not quite ready for export but that's the long term goal.

  8. You have a lot on your plate for sure. Maybe someone stateside who has a vision for this can come visit, make contacts, etc and do much of the work needed to begin to make this happen. Obviously it may be small at first but making the contacts and creating the opportunity would be good. I wouldn't limit it to navity scenes that artwork by Jonas Jean is excellent and would be very marketable. Just some thoughts.

  9. Connie Basso was doing this (see her blog by clicking on Konnyskorner above in the limks section) but her life got suddenly very busy with family stuff. I'm sure she would be open to assistance if anyone would like to help.
