What if all the Catholic school in the US and Canada took one or two of your top students and educated them? What if every church in America built one house for a Haitian family?
Depends? What size? We can build a one room house, 10'x 12', cement block with metal roof for @ $1,500. Two room house with porch runs around $3,000. The latter is my preference. No running water, no electricity and they have to own the land! Don't know how long these estimates will hold. Prices for construction material keep going up as more and more construction is happening all over. Land here is getting top dollar as NGOs and diaspora Haitians are buying up the land in these parts instead of Port-au-Prince.
